Permanent diagnostics

Permanent diagnostics, which involves checking the proper functioning of sewerage systems, has been obligatory in most areas since 31 December 2021. The purpose of permanent diagnostics is to protect the environment, public health and the infrastructure, which can be put at risk by the poorly-controlled channelling of waste water. Permanent diagnostics revolves around four main themes:

  • Having continuous access to knowledge about the condition and functioning of the sewerage system
  • Anticipating or identifying any malfunctions as quickly as possible
  • Measuring the efficacy of the actions undertaken
  • Acting in a context of continuous improvement.
Claire Group’s solutions for permanent diagnostics

Giving operators a global offer for optimal diagnostics

Claire Group offers sewerage system operators a global solution for the installation of permanent diagnostic capability. The Group’s offer, which is designed, built and distributed by Ijinus, includes level, flow, pressure and temperature sensors, rain gauges, overflow detectors and probes to measure water quality.

All the products can be integrated or are compatible with dataloggers, so that the output data can be transferred to control tools to facilitate the management of priority interventions. Claire Group’s solutions are the products of choice when it comes to the guidelines on implementing a permanent diagnostics system as recommended by the French water industry body ASTEE (Scientific and Technical Association for Water and the Environment).

Overflow detector

This capacitive overflow sensor is a wired device that measures overflow from the sewerage system into the natural environment. It also logs the number and duration of overflow episodes.

  • COMPLIANT WITH REGULATIONS

Suitable for the overflow measurement required by law when more than 2,000 inhabitants are connected to the same pumping station or stormwater overflow.

  • SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS

Compatible with occasional measurement campaigns for monitoring the sewerage system.

  • INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY GUARANTEES RELIABILITY

CapAir® technology (capacitive measurement with air referential) allowing reliable and unparalleled detection of overflows in wastewater networks in the most difficult conditions.

Innovative solutions for sewerage system performance

Really simple to set up and install, the RG20 or RG25, paired with a datalogger, can be used equally well in temporary or permanent rainfall monitoring programmes. The rain gauge is connected to a logger which records the local data by radio, or on a remote supervision tool. This ‘tipping bucket’ rain gauge consists of a funnel collector with two calibrated containers designed to prevent the rain from splashing internally or externally, as recommended by the WMO (World Meteorological Organization). The data can be logged either by time stamping the bucket tips, or based on cumulative rainfall, and the device can be programmed to issue alerts.

The wireless LNU is an acoustic imaging level sensor designed to measure water levels in difficult environments. This multi-purpose sensor, recognised for the precision of its measurements, can be coupled with a physical-chemical sensor or used with samplers. An all-in-one, self-powered system, it measures and logs data before transmitting it to a supervision platform. The LNU is simple to install, use and maintain. It can be securely programmed via radio without any physical interaction on the sensor or direct contact with water, making it easy to maintain.

OSRAI FLOW is a self-powered communicating system that reliably converts a measurement of water height into flow. It considerably reduces the margin of error when calculating water levels in confined spaces. Easy and quick to install on sewer pipes, it can be adapted to the limitations of the existing environment or sewer manhole invert. OSRAI FLOW calculates the flow on a wide range of collector slopes, starting from the height of the measured water. The patented OSRAI FLOW system is based on the ‘obstruction’ principle, and the relationship between flow rate and pressure drop. Its innovative shape limits the risk of clogging and guarantees reliable flows for upstream slopes, up to 4%. It can be installed in an existing well.

The CNRT level sensor is a battery-powered pressure sensor that also measures the level and temperature of waste water, while the CNR sensor only measures the height of the water by pressure. Both sensors link to a datalogger to enable data transmission. The flow rate can be deduced from the measured height, without any additional equipment. The range includes modem-free sensors for use in local measurement programmes, while other models have a built-in modem so that data can be transmitted remotely. The sensor is robust, compact and discreet and has an operational life of up to 5 years without battery change. It can be used in any environment with cables from 5 to 60 m, including an atmospheric pressure aerator.

The physico-chemical datalogger is a self-powered device used to monitor the quality of waste water. It can simultaneously measure one or more parameters in order to comply with regulatory requirements or carry out network diagnostics for the treatment of urban waste water (input controls and monitoring of continuous infiltration or seepage) or the processing of industrial effluent. Installation, including on-site calibration, is easy and quick. Data can be retrieved either on site by radio, or remotely for the versions with built-in GSM / GPRS. There are many different water quality probes available, to test parameters such as: pH / Redox / Temperature, Conductivity / Salinity / Temperature, Inductive conductivity / Salinity / Temperature, Redox potential / Temperature, Dissolved oxygen / Temperature, Turbidity NTU-MES / Temperature.
