NODE LM, the biosensor to detect pollution and optimise self-monitoring

Discover the latest innovation from Hydreka.

Claire Connect unveils its NODE LM biosensor, developed by Hydreka: a dual technological innovation for continuous, self-sufficient monitoring of water quality in wastewater networks.

Assessment of changes in organic load and toxicity

Claire Connect, which harnesses the expertise of Ijinus and Hydreka, is expanding its portfolio of metrology solutions with NODE LM, a new-generation biosensor specially designed to rise to the challenges of monitoring wastewater networks and natural water resources.

What sets the NODE LM apart is its unique ability to use bacteria naturally present in water as living bioindicators: they react to variations in organic load or the presence of toxic substances, generating a bioelectric signal that is then measured in real time by the actual NODE LM.

Activité bactérienne

This technology is based on the principle of a self-sufficient biological battery: the energy required for measurement is produced directly by the metabolic activity of the bacteria, thereby eliminating the need for a battery that needs to be replaced. The entire system operates without the need to add chemicals or to carry out necessary calibration, and with guaranteed continuity of service.

By combining measurement accuracy, self-sufficient energy and an environmentally friendly approach, the NODE LM satisfies both the increasingly stringent regulatory requirements and the operational constraints of network operators.

Simple integration for a fast return on investment

The NODE LM has been designed to be easily incorporated into existing infrastructures, without requiring major construction work or additional investment.

Thanks to its universal compatibility with most loggers, PLCs and supervision systems on the market, it can be rapidly rolled out without the need for complex modifications or additional costs for operators.

Because it is so easy to incorporate, it is now possible to install instruments at points in the network that were previously not easy to access, thus paving the way for broader and finer-grained instrumentation of wastewater networks.

NODE LM en situation

In situations where other sensors become clogged up, the NODE LM simply cleans itself

One of the major drawbacks of existing sensors, aside from their inability to represent the quality of the water passing through them, is clogging: the speed of the effluent flow inevitably causes the sensors to come into contact with debris (wipes and various solids), which clogs them up, quickly rendering them inoperative and requiring frequent, costly and sometimes risky interventions by maintenance teams.

The NODE LM turns this problem into an advantage: its patented design uses the speed of the effluent to prevent clogging and create a self-cleaning effect, thereby significantly reducing maintenance requirements.

Less maintenance, greater performance with NODE LM!

The NODE LM is available in three sizes, for pipes ranging from 200 to 2,000 mm, and can be adapted to a wide variety of network configurations.

With its innovative design, maintenance can be carried out directly from the surface, without the need to descend into the network or call on CATEC-certified personnel, which reduces risks for teams as well as operating costs.

This solution reflects a comprehensive performance approach:

Fewer interventions and measurement interruptions

Improved safety for operators

Help to maintain regulatory compliance and protect the environment

With NODE LM, operators now have a reliable and long-lasting tool designed to provide continuous, uninterrupted measurement and requiring up to 10 times less maintenance than a conventional sensor.

Zoom sur NODE LM

A solution that revolutionises self-monitoring

The NODE LM does more than just measure: it revolutionises the way networks are monitored and optimised. Its biological approach, self-sufficient energy supply and self-cleaning design combine to make it a strategic asset for any local authority or operator seeking to enhance the reliability of their self-monitoring systems while keeping costs under control.

Developed by Hydreka’s research and development team, this patented innovation reinvents water quality monitoring and opens up new possibilities for smart network instrumentation.
